Object FIX ZIP Editor's Review

Object FIX ZIP repairs ZIP archive files by trying to reconstruct them. It creates a repaired archive file, which you should be able to unpack successfully. Repairing an archive is not a process with a 100% success rate, so the program may not be able to recover all your archived files. However, during testing Object FIX ZIP performed really well.

I started testing this program by archiving several text files into a ZIP archive. Then, I opened the archive using a hexadecimal editor and I modified its contents. I first tried to modify the beginning of the archive file, then the middle, and in the last test I modified the end. By doing this, I simulated data loss. Object FIX ZIP was able to recover all or almost all of the files that were compressed.

Working with this software is very easy. The program is in fact a wizard, allowing you to recover broken archives in an easy 4 step process. Object FIX ZIP allows you to test an archive's integrity, to repair it, and to extract it to a folder from your computer.

Pluses: The program supports repairing more than one archive at once. The repair process is very fast, so it doesn't take too much time.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: I want to emphasize the fact that Object FIX ZIP is freeware. This and its good performance makes it well worth downloading, even if you don't need it right now.

version reviewed: 1.6.1
